Current research projects underway include:

• Developing video and written teaching program to help surgery residents learn how to competent communication skills to talk with patients and their families post surgery.
• Developing a protocol to train physicians ways to manage disclosure of medical mistakes.
• Development of a measurement to test privacy and disclosure of HIV serodiscordant and seroconcordant couples.
• The development of the Health Privacy Barometer to understand perceptions of health privacy and identify fluctuations across time.
• Investigate communication breakdowns as reasons for ethics consultation calls.
• Examination of privacy changes in families with an adult daughter diagnosed with cancer.
• Conducting a literature review of all current research on families in medicine: Family Factor Project.
• Researching how nurses cope with personal disclosures from patients and families.
