Pediatric Ethics Education

Clinical Ethics Practicum:  The Nurse Ethicist serves as the mentor for undergraduate and graduate nursing students participating in a clinical ethics practicum hosted by the Fairbanks Center for Medical Ethics. With faculty approval from the Indiana University School of Nursing, students spend 40 hours over the course of a semester gaining practical ethics experience in the context of FCME sponsored programs and IU Health Ethics Committee activities.

Ethics Education Seminars:  The Fairbanks Program in Nursing Ethics provides a series of educational offerings for staff nurses on a wide variety of topics related to ethics and the nursing care of patients.  These educational offerings are creatively designed to be brief and informative in order to promote the integration of ethics training into a nurse’s busy day without requiring nurses to leave the patient care area for extended periods of time .

UBEC Facilitator Training:   The Fairbanks Program in Nursing Ethics offers training for individuals interested in facilitating UBECs at IU Health hospitals, or creating similar programs at their home institutions. For information about UBEC facilitator training, contact Dr. Lucia Wocial.
